    This week, Year 1 have had so much fun learning about Chinese New Year. The children have done so well understanding the key information about Chinese New Year. The children stood at the front of the class and explained what Chinese New Year is. They were so confident!

    Friday 24th January 2025

    This week, Year 1 have been practising their gymnastic skills and mastering our basic balancing skills. Once we were confident at balancing, we created our own sequence in our pairs and performed it for the class.

    In P.E. this week Year 1 have been playing Cups and Saucers, teaching them the gross motor skills, running, jumping and listening to instructions.

    Friday 17th January 2025

    In Geography, Year 1 have been studying the United Kingdom and in our lesson we named and located the countries, capital cities and seas of the UK. As a class we assembled a big puzzle and had a mini quiz about the key information about the UK.  It was very fun!

    This week, Year 1 have been writing beautiful poems about their hair during our English lessons. They have been using expressive language and have even used some rhyming words in their poem. The Year 1 team are so proud of what they have produced!

    Friday 20th December 2024

    Year 1 went to watch 'Well Done Mummy Penguin' at The Albany Theatre and absolutely loved it. It taught the kids that nothing can stop you when you put your mind to it. We will be applying this to everything we do!

    In Music, Year 1 have been looking at Music through film and in our lesson we listened to Andy’s Birthday from the Toy Story Score and created a graphic score. The children had to listen carefully to identify the different sounds they could hear.

    In Art, Year 1 has been studying Claudette Johnson’s art work.  Using grids we drew one of her portraits, thinking about each features placement and the different lines needed to show emotions.  They produced some beautiful art work!
